We started this tour back in 2018 as part of an NGO project, when Huy was a student and Minh was an NGO worker. Today, we are both co-founders of Momo Travel.
The original idea was simple: to find a new way for the first organic farm in Hoi An to generate additional income for local farmers, beyond simply selling their produce.

Escape the busy streets of Hoi An and spend a fun-filled day discovering the peaceful countryside, meeting local families, and learning how Vietnamese food goes from the farm to your table.
Start your adventure with a leisurely cycle from Hoi An through quiet village paths and green rice fields. Along the way, you’ll see a more rural side of Vietnam, with water buffaloes, ducks, chickens, and farmers working in the fields. Your local guide will share stories about village life, Vietnamese food, and the traditions you see along the way.
We’ll make a stop at a local market, where you can discover seasonal fruits and ingredients that you may never have seen before. Pick something interesting to try later as part of your dessert!
Next, hop into a traditional round basket boat and cruise through the peaceful water coconut forest. Away from the busy tourist areas, enjoy the scenery and meet the local boatmen who have grown up around these waterways.
Then it’s time to get your hands dirty at a local organic farm. Meet the farming family and learn how they grow the fresh vegetables and herbs used in Vietnamese cooking. You’ll have the chance to join their daily work, from preparing the soil and planting and watering vegetables to making natural organic pesticides and fertilisers. Kids can also meet and feed some of the friendly farm animals, including goats, rabbits, chickens, and ducks.
After working up an appetite, head to the family home for a hands-on Vietnamese cooking class. Using fresh ingredients from the garden, you’ll learn to prepare several traditional dishes with your guide and local hosts. The cooking is relaxed, fun, and easy to follow—with plenty of stories, laughter, and a few opportunities to learn some Vietnamese culture along the way.
Finally, sit down in the garden and enjoy the lunch you’ve helped prepare. Fresh from the garden, homemade, and full of authentic Vietnamese flavours, it’s the perfect way to finish your countryside adventure.
