My Son Sanctuary and the Champa Civilization
Nestled in a narrow valley surrounded by mountains, this temple-tower complex is often called “the valley of arts and divinities.” Once home to over 70 architectural works, My Son was the most important religious center of the Champa Kingdom from the 4th to the 13th century. These tower-temples, built to commemorate great victories and conquests, also served as sacred places where the souls of kings would unite with the Hindu gods, especially Shiva.

After the fall of the Champa Kingdom, My Son was abandoned for over three centuries until its rediscovery by French archaeologists in the late 19th century. Though time and wars have reduced the complex to around 20 surviving temples, the site remains a powerful symbol of Cham culture and history.

TOUR ITINERARY:

• 7:30-8:00 AM: Pick-up from your Hoi An hotel by our guide and depart for My Son Sanctuary.
• 9:30 AM: Arrive at My Son and embark on a 2-hour guided tour to explore the site’s remaining temples. Walk through the serene landscape, learn about the history and mythology of the Cham civilization, and enjoy traditional Champa performances.
• 11:45 AM: Travel to a local house to experience the traditional craft of rice paper making. Get hands-on and enjoy your self-made creation.
• 12:30 PM: Savor a delicious Vietnamese lunch at another local house. Relax with herbal tea, refreshing air, and authentic food.
• 1:00 PM: Take a leisurely boat trip along the picturesque Thu Bon River, enjoying the cool breeze and beautiful river views of Central Vietnam’s largest river.
• 1:30 PM: Return to Hoi An and drop off at your hotel. Tour ends.
